What are Hot Springs?

Hot Springs, newly introduced in Death Stranding 2, have 2 main effects.
- Hot Springs Jump
The Hot Springs Jump is a feature that allows you to Beach Jump from one hot spring to another while soaking. Be aware that, just like with a regular Beach Jump, any cargo you are carrying will be left behind at the original hot spring. - Temporary Ability Boosts from Hot Spring Effects
Each hot spring has its own unique effects, granting temporary boosts to your stats. However, these effects do not stack—the effect of the last hot spring you used will overwrite any previous ones.

You cannot bathe in a hot spring if it is raining or snowing at that location. However, if it is raining or snowing at the hot spring you jump to, you can still perform another Hot Springs Jump as long as you remain in the bath.
You can also enjoy stargazing at an open-air hot spring at night, and even watch Sam sing the classic song “Ii Yudana” (“What a Nice Bath”).
How to make Hot Springs

To built Hot Springs, you must complete Main Order 026, which becomes available in Chapter 7.
After unlocking the “Miracle Spring” before reaching the Motherhood facility, you can unlock “Heartman’s Bath” via a Hot Springs Jump, which then enables the use of the Hot Spring Digger.

You can earn a trophy the first time you excavate a hot spring.
The Hot Spring Digger can be built using the PCC Lv.2.
Hot springs cannot be excavated just anywhere; you need to locate a spot where a hot spring can emerge.
While holding the PCC, walking will give you a rough idea of the distance and direction to a source through sound. If there’s no source nearby, move to another location to continue your search.

Please note that in order to set up the Hot Spring Digger, the region must be connected to a Qpid.
All 9 Hot Springs Locations
1. Miracle Spring

- Location: Near The Motherhood
- Effect: Physical Ability Boost (no noticeable effect?)

It can be excavated on the foundation ruins of the building located right in front of the Motherhood.

2. Heartman’s Spring

- Location: Inside Heartman’s Lab
- Effect: Maximum Stamina Increase

5. Digestive Spring

- Location: Near the road close to Lone Commander
- Effect: Increased Effectiveness of Food and Drink Recovery
Digestive Spring can be found on the cliffs near the main road close to Lone Commander. Since it often rains at this hot spring, it’s recommended to perform a Hot Springs Jump from another hot spring if you want to bathe here.

6. Tar Spring

- Location: Near the Tar Therapist
- Effect: Reduced Detection by BTs
Tar Spring is located on the cliffs near the Tar Therapist. To set up the hot spring, you must ensure the Tar Therapist is connected via Qpid.

8. Clairvoyant Spring

- Location: In the snowy mountains east of Phantom Smith
- Effect: Improved Ability to Spot Nearby Objects
Clairvoyant Spring can be found by traveling east from Phantom Smith through the snowy mountains. Reach the hot spring by vehicle, and look for a spot marked by stones arranged in a circular pattern.

9. Recharging Spring

- Location: In the snowy mountains north of BPAS
- Effect: Battery Recharge
Recharging Spring can be found by heading north from BPAS through the snowy mountains. Reach the hot spring by vehicle, and look for a spot marked by stones arranged in a circular pattern.

Rewards for Unlocking Hot Springs
When you unlock a hot spring and report back to Heartman’s Lab, you will receive items for customizing your hot springs.
You can customize hot springs by selecting “Activate Terminal” on the Hot Springs Device. Each customization not only affects the hot spring’s effects but also changes its appearance, so enjoy adjusting them to your preference!
Additionally, unlocking all hot springs rewards you with the customization holo “Kangaroo”, so if you want it, be sure to excavate every hot spring.
How to Look Up the Stars While in a Hot Spring
At night, soak in an outdoor hot spring (the one in front of Motherhood is recommended) and look up at the sky to view constellations. The visible constellations vary depending on the hot spring location, so enjoy discovering different ones.
Also, viewing constellations from a hot spring grants a trophy, so be sure to do this if you’re aiming for a full trophy completion.
How to Watch Sam Sing “Ii Yudana” in a Hot Spring

When you soak in a hot spring, Kato Cha possesses the Dollman and performs “Ii Yu Da Na” for you. Even after the song ends, Sam will hum it, so be sure to listen! (“Ii Yu Da Na” is a hot spring song that every Japanese person knows.)
Afterword
Hot springs are not just a means of travel—they also serve as a relaxing spot for the player, adding an enjoyable element to the game. Be sure to unlock and experience all of them!
